  • TALCB Board and AMC Committee Appointments Announced

    AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB) is pleased to announce the reappointment of Chance Bolton and Martha Gayle Reid Lynch and the appointment of Paola E. Castillo to the Board, with terms set to expire January 31, 2027. Additionally, Lisa J. Rodriguez and John H. Eichelberger, III have been reappointed to the TALCB Appraisal Management Companies Advisory Committee for a term set to expire January 31, 2023.

  • From the Commissioner - February 2021

    Happy February to all of you. This month we have passed the one-year mark since the first cases of COVID-19 were reported in the US.  Much has changed in the last year, but I am proud of our team. I genuinely hope that 2021 brings us all peace and a shift towards more time with family and friends.

  • Request for Course Evaluation Forms

    Board rules require education providers to provide all students the Course Evaluation form approved by the Board, or a link to the online version of the form available on the TALCB website.  As a reminder, course evaluations submitted to an education provider are subject to a four-year record retention requirement. 

  • Providers: Changes to Pre-License Education and Examination Rules

    The Board recently adopted rule amendments to TAC 153.11(a)(4) that reduce the number of hours of additional qualifying education required when an applicant fails a licensing examination three times, from 30 to 15 hours.

    Happy New Year! I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday. I anticipated the start of 2021 with great excitement, as I expect many of you did as well.

  • From the Chair - December 2020

    The year 2020 will undoubtedly be remembered by each one of us. After enduring the stay at home orders, many of us emerged to an extremely busy year as appraisers. All of us emerged to a new normal. Despite the interruptions, the Board also forged ahead in our work serving the great state of Texas. At our last quarterly board meeting of 2020 in mid-November, we welcomed a new board member, Rolando Castro of Cypress, and a new AMC Advisory Committee Member, Julia Hayes of Beaumont.

  • TALCB Looking For Mentors

    TALCB is accepting applications to become an approved Mentor. Volunteering to become a Mentor is a way for an experienced appraiser to serve the public interest and contribute to the appraisal profession by working one-on-one with appraisers required to complete remedial training and education. Mentors agree to serve for a two-year period and are a key component of the agency's process to ensure appraiser competence.

  • TALCB Recognizes Extension of AQB Temporary Relief for Classroom Courses

    The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) arm of The Appraisal Foundation (TAF), authorized by The Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC), has extended a temporary alternative to courses approved for classroom delivery through December 31, 2021. 

  • Remember to Fill Out Online Course Evaluations

    License holders are encouraged to complete a course evaluation each time they complete a course through a TREC or TALCB approved education provider.
