The Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board (TALCB) has been awarded the State Appraiser Regulatory Agencies Support Grant by the Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC). The ASC has allocated more than $10 million for distribution over three years, with funding provided on an annual basis. This grant is available to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the United States Virgin Islands.  In this first year, TALCB was awarded $120,000. TALCB is using this grant to improve technologies used in complaint and application processing. Specifically, TALCB is developing complaint and application web portals.

These portals will reduce complaint and application processing times by automating document processing, reducing manual review, and promoting self-service. The portals will include a web-based platform for document submission and status review. In addition, the complaint portal will allow users to submit complaints through a user interface.  In future grant years, TALCB plans to develop an interactive experience audit log, which will allow users to track experience hours online. Currently, these processes rely heavily on email communications and manual reviews.  These portals will automate document processing and ultimately reduce turnaround times.

TALCB was established to safeguard consumers in matters of real property appraisal services. The agency also provides education and licensing services, as well as regulation and enforcement of state and federal laws and requirements that govern real property appraisals.
