Alternative Model for Gaining Appraisal Experience in Program-Review Process

In response to appraisal trainees’ difficulty in finding supervisory appraisers, the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) adopted the Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA) program. PAREA is an alternative to the traditional supervisor and trainee model and offers practical experience through a range of online and virtual reality technology. The AQB is currently in the process of vetting prospective programs.

Become a Volunteer Appraisal Reviewer

TALCB is accepting applications for Volunteer Appraisal Reviewers (formerly called Peer Investigative Committee members). Serving as a Volunteer Appraisal Reviewer is an opportunity for experienced appraisers to serve the public interest and give back to the appraisal profession. Volunteer Appraisal Reviewers serve for a two-year term and conduct appraisal reviews for aspiring appraisers.

Member Mission Moment with Mark McAnally

The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board opens each meeting with a “mission moment,” where one Board member reflects on what it means to them to be a part of the Board or shares their motivation.  At the November meeting, Mark McAnally shared his thoughts on TALCB, recalling his years of experience on the Board:

From the Commissioner - November 2021

Last week we celebrated Veterans Day. We have many license holders who have served our country in the military. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and I am grateful for your service.

Thanksgiving will be here before we know it.  I hope you enjoy Thanksgiving with friends and family.  I am especially thankful that it seems we can gather more safely this year.  This pandemic has lasted longer than I ever expected.  I see a potential light at the end of the tunnel and look towards the future with hope.

TALCB Complaint Portal Launched

The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB) is pleased to announce the launch of the TALCB complaint portal. This simple-to-use tool allows consumers to file complaints directly on the TALCB website.  It also allows consumers to check the status of their complaints online.  In addition, it integrates backend efficiencies for staff, which decreases complaint processing times.  The complaint portal is located on the Filing a Complaint page of the TALCB website.
