  • Gov. Abbott Appoints 2 to Appraisal Management Companies Advisory Committee

    Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Frank Towery Jr., and reappointed Julia Hayes to the Appraisal Management Companies Advisory Committee for terms set to expire on January 31, 2024.

    The Committee advises the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board and makes recommendations on matters relating to the regulation of appraisal management companies.

    The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board met in August and heard updates from staff, approved a new process for Volunteer Appraisal Reviewers, and adopted and proposed changes to rules.

  • A New Way for Consumers to Find a License Holder’s Disciplinary History

    It is now easier to find whether a license holder has a disciplinary history with the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board. The new Disciplinary Actions button at the top of each license holder’s page will take users to a license holder's specific Disciplinary Actions page if a disciplinary history exists.

    The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board met in early May and heard updates from staff, a presentation on Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA), and proposed and adopted rules.
