The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is experiencing technical difficulties affecting turnaround times for FBI fingerprint-based criminal history results. Appraiser trainee applicants must complete an approved Appraiser Trainee/Supervisory Appraiser (ATSA) course as part of their qualifying education requirements.  After an appraiser trainee authorization has been issued, a trainee must complete an approved ATSA course every four years, in addition to ACE required for every two-year renewal term.
