Appraisal Management Companies registered with TALCB must complete AMC National Registry mandatory reporting and pay the registration fee by March 31, 2024. AMCs that do not timely comply will not be added to the national registry, resulting in ineligibility to perform services on federally related transactions. In addition, failure to timely comply will result in a late fee of $500 and may result in disciplinary action.

What is the AMC National Registry?

The AMC National Registry (AMC Registry) is a national online database of appraisal management companies (AMCs) maintained by the Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC). Any AMC that meets the definition of an AMC under federal law is eligible for inclusion on the AMC Registry. The AMC Registry is also open to the public and may be used by clients and consumers to view certain information about an AMC.

Gov. Abbott Appoints Raheela Ahsan to AMC Advisory Committee

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Raheela Ahsan of Dallas to the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board's (TALCB) Appraisal Management Companies Advisory Committee. The Committee advises TALCB and makes recommendations on matters relating to the regulation of appraisal management companies.

AMC Fee Survey Launched

The Survey Research Institute at the Hobby School of Public Affairs is conducting a study on behalf of the Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board to learn more about the experiences of appraisers in the state of Texas.

Appraisers have been invited to take part in the survey by email on May 29. This survey asks questions about experiences in the field, the types of appraisals conducted, fees paid, and the factors that affect these fees.

The Board Amends Rule 159.155 Regarding Periodic Review of Appraisals by AMCs

The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB or Board) recently amended Rule 159.155(a)(2) to reduce from 5% to 2% the number of appraisal reports that need to be randomly reviewed each year by an AMC licensed to operate in Texas.
