TALCB Changes AMC Reviews to 2%

The Board Amends Rule 159.155 Regarding Periodic Review of Appraisals by AMCs

The Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB or Board) recently amended Rule 159.155(a)(2) to reduce from 5% to 2% the number of appraisal reports that need to be randomly reviewed each year by an AMC licensed to operate in Texas.

TALCB has approved the courses listed below to satisfy pre-licensure education requirements (through the expiration date shown) for the number of classroom hours shown and the delivery method listed.  Please Note: TALCB  does not schedule courses. Appraisal Management Company (AMC) Law Updated

Governor Abbott Has Signed SB 1516

SB 1516 amends Chapter 1104 to address some recent changes in federal law regarding the regulation of AMCs, to provide consistency in terminology, and to repeal some outdated provisions. The bill also makes some conforming changes to align Chapter 1104 with the amendments made last session to Chapter 1103, the appraiser licensing act administered by the Board.

Appraisal Management Company Survey

The Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board has engaged the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston and the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University to conduct a survey to learn more about the practices of appraisers and appraisal management companies (AMCs) that operate in the state of Texas, including on the topic of fees charged and paid for common appraisal reports.  We invite you to participate.
