How can I determine whether my appraisal experience qualifies as acceptable real estate appraisal experience hours?

TALCB does not preview whether or not your real estate appraisal experience will qualify as acceptable experience hours for a particular license. You can review Texas Occupations Code (Chapter 1103, Subchapter E, Sections 1103.201-1103.213) and TALCB rules (22 Tex. Admin. Code §153.15) to assist you determining the adequacy of an appraisal or appraisal report. You can also have your work previewed by another appraiser, mentor or USPAP instructor.

What do I do if I received a letter indicating that my application was being denied after submitting my work files as part of the experience audit?

Each applicant for a license or certification must go through a mandatory experience audit, which involves a review of a random sample of their work product (inclusive of work files). This experience audit is performed to ensure the experience being claimed was performed in compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Become a Licensed Residential Appraiser

A Licensed Residential Appraiser is a person who is licensed by TALCB and has met the educational, experience, and examination requirements for licensing. The scope of work includes appraisal of non-complex residential 1-4 unit properties with a transactional value less than $1,000,000 as well the authority to complete complex federally related transactions (FRT) and non FRT transactions with a value less than 250K.
